Inner Presence Coaching is a dynamic integration of Eastern Nondual Wisdom, Nonviolent Communication, Internal Family Systems and Depth Psychology.
This presence-based coaching supports clients to have experiential understandings and insights that occur while connecting to emotional/mental aspects of themselves as they emerge.
This is different from “talking about” or “stories about” or “having an intellectual understanding about” or all of which, though useful, can actually be ways to disconnect from the deeper feelings, thoughts or sensations of our emerging experience.
For example, instead of talking about your loneliness or telling an analytical story about why you are lonely, a Coach would encourage you to allow the loneliness to emerge and really be with the feelings, body sensations, and thoughts that occur.
This type of inner connection gives us important emotional insights into our experience: As we feel the lonely feelings, we can observe the parts of us that don’t want to feel the loneliness and want to push the loneliness away. Or, we feel the parts of us that want to distract us from feeling the loneliness.
This emphasis on the experiential, I believe, makes the difference between our spinning around and getting lost in the intellect and our connecting to what is presently alive in us and allowing our innate wisdom to self-correct.
There is a wide range of talking support out there and I would like to distinguish the Inner Presence Coaching from these common types.
Many people, when they think about talking support, conjure up Psychotherapy or Coaching.
With psychotherapy, people automatically think in terms of pathological labels. The therapist tries to diagnose and label a person with an emphasis on excavating the past to understand the client’s diagnosed label.
Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on supporting clients to set and attain goals and provides strategies and accountability to attain them.
Inner Presence Coaching neither tries to excavate the past nor is focused on the future, but focuses on what is emerging in the present. If there is any goal, it is more of an intention to be in [a High degree of] Presence.
Benefits of Presence work include:
Becoming Emotionally Literate at the Highest Level
Building your feeling literacy will give you skills to know what you are feeling and foster an emotional connection with different aspects of yourself, which means you can stay connected to the flow of life within, resulting in deeper, richer emotional connections with others.
Hold Presence For Your Unconscious Desires/Wants/Beliefs
Developing a recognition for the deep unconscious desires/wants/beliefs that run the show and bringing them into the light of awareness, will create the conditions for effortless transformation.
Develop a High Capacity for Empathy and Compassion
Deepening your empathy and compassion for others and yourself, is a byproduct of abiding in a high degree of presence. Imagine responding to some inner critical voice with empathy and compassion.
Have More Ease Effortlessly Emerge
Holding presence for different aspects of yourself that long to be seen and heard, will support your system to spontaneously relax into life.
Open Yourself To The Timeless Present
Experientially, you will feel the progression of unknowingly being preoccupied with the past or future thought stream, to knowingly being preoccupied, to becoming the timeless space in which thought streams arise…and experiencing the richness of life.
Bring Clarity To Your Inner World
Developing clarity about your inner world and having the skills to tease apart any amorphous stream of thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, will allow you to meet them with understanding and presence. Life will become less confusing.
